Depending on the sensor, via GPS, WLAN sniffing, or cellular tower positioning.

Yes, connectivity via gateways is designed for worldwide use across various mobile communications standards and technologies.

How is the data transmitted?
Via low-power LPWAN technologies (Low Power Wide Area Network) such as NB-IoT or LTE-M. If this 4G technology is not available, 2G is also available as a fallback.

How are the sensors attached to the container?
Using screws, rivets, adhesive bonding, or special brackets, depending on the asset type.

What data can the sensors capture?
Yes, depending on the model, sensors can capture temperature, humidity and many other parameters in addition to position.

Is the hardware maintenance-free?
Yes, due to the long battery life and robust design, no manual service is required.

Are there sensors for explosion-protection areas (ATEX)?
Yes, there are special variants for hazardous environments (e.g., oil & gas).

How large are the sensors?
There are different sizes depending on the manufacturer. The Bosch Sense I is compact enough to fit into the corrugations of Euro wire mesh boxes or on pallet feet (33 x 23 x 6 mm).

Can the batteries be replaced?
In most cases, the devices are sealed in order to maintain the protection class; however, there are different concepts depending on the model.

How accurate is the positioning?
Outdoors (GPS), accurate to within a few meters; indoors (WLAN/cell), approximately 10–50 meters.

Is the software web-based?
Yes, access is secure via browser or mobile apps

Can different user roles be created?

With LPWAN, it is in the range of seconds to minutes, which is entirely sufficient for logistics assets.

Can the transmission frequency be changed remotely?
Yes, the interval can be adjusted via the cloud using “over-the-air” (OTA) configurations.

How does WLAN positioning work without a password?
The sensor does not connect to WLAN networks. It only detects publicly visible WLAN signals, such as the MAC addresses of nearby access points and their signal strength. From this, an approximate position is calculated via a database, without reading passwords, content, or network data.

Can the sensors be mounted on metal surfaces?
Yes, special antenna designs are used to improve radio performance.

Can I use it to calculate the CO2 footprint?
Yes, the precise transport routes make it possible to calculate emissions per asset much more accurately.

How does Track and Trace help with the return of empties?
It shows exactly how many empty containers are located at which supplier so that pickup routes can be bundled efficiently.

Does it help identify “slow movers”?
Yes, the software creates a total productivity report for assets, which can be used to identify slow movers.

Is tracking GDPR-compliant?
Yes, Bosch Track and Trace focuses on goods and assets, not on people. The focus is on the asset.

Who owns the data?
The customer remains the owner of the data; Bosch acts as a data processor.

Where are the cloud platform servers located?

Do I need my own IT servers?
No, this is a cloud solution; no local server infrastructure is required.

How are the sensors disposed of?
The sensors are disposed of as electronic waste in accordance with the WEEE Directive. Bosch takes the sensors back and channels them into a proper recycling process. The WEEE Directive generally applies to all electronic devices.
